Digital Degustation Week 9 (As Published in B&T Magazine)

CELEBRATE WITH TECHNOLOGY THIS CHRISTMAS
This Christmas will be unlike any other, with technology changing the way we all celebrate this year, according to a study by advertising agency JWT London.
The research suggests this year:
  • 22% will be sending greetings via Facebook
  • 11% will instantly upload photos and clips of the big day to social networks
  • 14% will send an e-card rather than a traditional Christmas card
  • 7% plan to tweet Christmas greetings
It’s not just Gen Y using technology to connect this Christmas, the over 55s claim to be the keenest Tweeters (9%) and are also more likely to be found Skyping their relatives than the average (15% v 14%)
The full research is worth a read.

A CHRISTMAS GIFT FROM VIRGIN
Fact: one in 6 Australians say that the worst part of Christmas shopping is listening to Christmas carols according to a recent study by Virgin Mobile, that’s why this year the telco is lending MP3 headphones to help save shoppers sanity.
Virgin Mobile PR manager Amber Morris told news.com.au “to be able to have your own headphones on and listen to your own songs at your own volume, calms everything down a little bit and hopefully puts a little bit of that Christmas cheer back into quite a stressful time.”
Shoppers can borrow a set of headphones for up to four hours without being charged from participating Virgin Mobile stores in most Westfield Malls.
